The Background to Embodima
Embodima™ is the result of over 12 years of development, testing and research on over 100 singing students including a cohort of singer-volunteers, tested at the University of Oxford, University of Cardiff and UCL.
Embodima™ research
These are EMG recordings of activity in the abdominal muscles. The green readings were taken BEFORE and the red readings were taken 15 minutes AFTER Embodima training.
Readings show increased and often doubled muscle activity after Embodima™ training.
These results came from the first set of tests carried out in collaboration with Dr Damon Hoad at UCL.
Further extensive tests were carried out with Dr Alan Watson professor of Neuroscience Science and Anatomy at University of Cardiff with whom Nicola collaborated for a decade and co wrote a book on vocal anatomy

Here is an abstract outlining the testing of Embodima™ where you can read about it in more depth:
Abstract Embodima testingArticle series
These articles were co-written with Dr Alan Watson as a series published in AOTOS magazine for singing teachers. They offer a progressive approach to explain Embodima™, the science behind it, its effectiveness in creating change in sound and its immediate practical application to vocal training techniques.
